Recruitment Procedure

We attempt to make the employment process as clear as possible at Quals Skills. There are Safer Recruitment criteria that we must follow given the nature of our work with children and vulnerable adults. You may read more about the application procedure and job vacancies at Quals Skills here.

Application

The first step in the application procedure is to complete the online application for the position at Quals Skills that you wish to apply for. For each post you wish to apply for, a separate application must be submitted. We are unable to accept speculative CVs according to Safer Recruitment guidelines.

As part of the procedure, you will be asked to prepare a supporting statement that should detail how you meet each need in the person description. Your application’s most important element is what places you on the shortlist for an interview. It would be preferable for you to complete this in another document before pasting it into the online application. You can log out and complete the application later since the application’s information will be saved..

Shortlisting

After a position’s closing date has passed, the recruiting manager will compile a shortlist of candidates for interviews. We wish to get in touch with candidates to let them know the outcomes within four weeks of a position’s closing date. If you’re chosen for an interview, someone will get in touch with you to arrange a time and let you know if there are any requirements.

Interview

Your interview will be competency-based, whether you attend one of our sites in person or do it online using Microsoft Teams. If the interview is online, please make sure you can access Teams and test your video and microphone before the interview.

On the panel, three workers, including your potential new line manager, will question you. Since at least one panellist has received training in safer hiring practises, you will be questioned about any gaps in your employment history throughout the interview.

Our interviews are created with a focus on maintaining fairness and equity. You could also be required to take a timed exam or give a presentation for a particular position as part of the interview process. You will have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have about the job or the firm after the interview, so you may want to prepare a few in advance.

Post Interview

Following the interview, they will be contacted as soon as is feasible by the recruiting manager, who will also function as the selected applicant’s line manager at Quals Skills. If you are not chosen at this time, we will inform you as soon as we can after the interview, and if you want it, we will provide you feedback.

Pre-Employment Screening

If you accept our job offer, we’ll submit you to our background check provider. You will be required to submit to pre-employment checks, which may include an enhanced DBS, credentials checks, and maybe additional checks depending on your role.

Mandatory Pre-Employment Training

Prior to beginning employment with us, you must successfully complete essential training in child safety and safeguarding.

Introduction and Probation

You will get a local induction when you start working with Quals Skills. This induction will involve introductions to your team and workspace as soon as is practicable. We also provide a corporate induction where you may learn more about the company and its college. The majority of jobs have a six-month probationary period during which you’ll receive formal and informal training and support to help with your integration.
